i wish they would’ve hopped on this when Samsung did. Knowing my Pixel doesnt have HDMI Out and that I have to upgrade just to get that feature is a pain in my ass.

You’re angry that new(er) phones get new features? This is … interesting.

But still, it will likely work with every Pixel phone released in the last two years, so there are some models available to choose from and they’re not too expensive (Pixel 8a and 9a).

I’m angry that the new(er) phones get features that PHONES FROM 2015 ALREADY HAD.

Everyone is so pissed when Apple does it but when Google does it its A-okay? I don’t want to upgrade my phone just because a feature that was removed for no reason other than to sell chromecasts is now being added back.

I love CONSOOMING new phones. I love buying the new thing every year and creating e-waste!! Yes big brother please remove the SD Card slot and sell me a cloud subscription, yes please remove the headphone jack and sell me a dongle!

I don’t get it man. Make it make sense. Why is it a good thing that they got rid of the feature in the first place to bring it back later as a “new” feature.

Some marketing survey shown that insignificant amount of users would use desktop mode, so they bought cheaper USB electronics for their next phone, that’s all. Never mind that Samsung adverises DeX so Galaxy users ar least know there is a desktop mode in their phone.

The problem is that 8 year old phones from Samsung also had this feature.

And further that 3 year old Google phones don’t even have the necessary hardware to ever make this work, even if they did push the software to it.

Great that multi monitor is now on the feature list. I’ve tried connecting my pixel to a single screen (which worked), but never got dual screen to work.

Remote admin can still be done via VNC and SSH though eh? Might be missing your use case there, but that’s what I do normally.

And, phone dependent, you should already have video out for presentations

I mean, you can use VNC and SSH on a 6 inch screen. You can also cut your lawn with a pair of scissors. The article shows a phone connected to a screen, I assumed that “Desktop mode” would be similar to Samsung Dex unless I missed something.
