A lot of “degoogling” talk has discussed how to degoogled email in a graceful way (Gmail has huge market share). Let me find that community.

Edit: based on that post, you probably want fastmail to selfhost. Now the official API of mail clients is jmap, so it may not be “rest” and you may not be able to find a “reliable” rest api

Most rpi heat sinks have a foam insulator acting as a sticky tape. Remove it and use thermal paste

Microsoft has been known to detect unencrypted passwords on storage or emails and try them on the encrypted zips that are stored. It may be standard practice to operate across borders.

The jellyfin community is probably best for that question.

I don’t know but I can brainstorm:

• reddit has shown itself to be toxic so genuine questions like this cannot be asked.
• this individual likes the community and wants to know what changed and how to support the parts he/she likes.
• the user is trying to participate in the community asking a silly but known question

Well I think there should be a /c/selfhostingnoobedition where an answer (even if it is just a “Google search link”) is expected. The amount of plausible sounding BS from googleing and getting stack overflow copies with unhelpful info or thinly veiled ads that has cost me time and money is huge, and I simply get directed to buy products while I am exploring (I don’t know what I don’t know), so I have gone here as my “Google”. I normally try to include my due diligence in a paragraph labelled “source:”

There should be a couple tutorials about how to establish a ssh connection to your pi. From there you can have root access and be able to do anything you want.

Raspbian and debian are sufficiently similar, I would think the boot process and file structure is the same (I have only worked with Raspbian)

In Raspbian, I think ssh is disabled by default due to some security concerns with the default user “pi” password “raspberry”. So changing the default value in the config text file and then connecting to ssh by finding the ip4v of the pi on your local network then connecting over the command line with “pi” then “raspberry” then changing the password before it is exposed to the internet is how you would do it.

Source: I had a pi 3b+ but it developed a short during the pi shortage and I haven’t gotten around to fixing it.

Well, if you were able to make it monetized and popular, it would be widely adopted by the owners of the servers.

I imagine a system where your upvotes are private but you have an dollar account populated via either ads turning attention into money, crypto turning your power into money, or a monthly donation, and at the end of the month, the balance of the account is evenly distributed between instances where you had activity.
