That’s why GrapheneOS had this feature for a long time, but with the ability to disable it. It also allows you to set the time period after which the reboot is initiated yourself. You can go as low as 10 minutes, or as high as 72 hours.
The Swiftfin app is awesome
The Spitz AX has a more powerful MediaTek dual core CPU running @ 1.3GHz. It also supports 5G, and has 2.5 Gbps Ethernet. As far as I can see, the Puli uses the same CPU, but it also includes a battery.
I recommend getting a dedicated cellular router like the GL.iNet Mudi (but you’re gonna need a USB Hub if you want to use Ethernet), Spitz (4G) or Puli (5G). The latter two have integrated Ethernet ports. Both are also available with built-in batteries.
I like Zola. You can integrate it with Lemmy comments: https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/30018034
OpenBoard hasn’t been updated for the last 3 years. HeliBoard is a continuation of the OpenBoard development, I highly recommend it.
HeliBoard is pretty nice
FUTO which is free and open source
It is neither free (as in freedom), nor open source.
It is source-available.
I tried it over and over, found the UI and UX to be pretty poor, and the app is pretty buggy. It had an issue for months that caused comments to sometimes be posted twice or more, it was incredibly annoying.
Never tried Raccoon, but I used Connect for a while, it’s not bad, but unfortunately proprietary :(
It’s unfortunately proprietary :(
Or does it just bother you to know, in the back of your mind, that it is not native?
That’s why I said that this is stupid and petty, but the thought alone makes my blood boil. And it’s not the same as with normal Electron apps on desktop, I also hate those, but for different reasons. Voyager looks just like a native iOS app, which makes this even worse for me, as I’m allergic to this kind of HTML/CSS/JS imitation of native UI libraries. Something about it just feels so wrong to me as a developer, I don’t know.
But I recommend you don’t actually listen to me, just use whatever you like.
You can also get it from the Play Store, or directly from GitHub via Obtainium
I know that this is stupid and petty, but I dislike Voyager, because it’s essentially a web app. I prefer native or near-native apps (things like Flutter or React Native). I tried it out and it’s pretty nice UI/UX-wise, but I still prefer Arctic on iOS, because it’s an actual native app written in SwiftUI, and thus closer to Apollo for Reddit (which Voyager tries to imitate).
taken from multiple versions of android
They’re the newest releases of Google’s own AOSP apps. If you don’t like the apps and the fact that they aren’t maintained anymore, complain to Google. They are the ones who fail to provide up-to-date apps in AOSP, because they want to promote they proprietary, spyware-infested garbage. It’s not like you have to use them, you can easily disable all the pre-installed apps, and either replace them with the proprietary Google apps (and disable network access to maintain privacy), or get open source alternatives, for example from Fossify.
There’s no preinstalled apps store
There is a pre-installed app store, which lets you install Graphene’s own apps, Google Play Store and services, as well as the Accrescent app store. For everything else, you can grab an APK from the web. My recommendation is to use Obtainium, it easily lets you download, install and update APKs from various sources on the web. There’s also an extensive list with presets for apps to download via Obtainium: https://apps.obtainium.imranr.dev/
The security is remarkable but I feel they could give other areas more care.
They don’t want to include any unnecessary bloat, so they leave the OS very minimalistic on purpose. You can install whatever you like, and you don’t have to deal with removing bloat you don’t need.
No contactless payment is really tough too
Some banks offer their own NFC payment system that doesn’t require Google Pay and just uses the bank’s app. Again, complain to your bank if they only offer mobile payments via Google Pay.
I recommend getting a 6a or 7a instead, maybe even the 8a if you’re ready to pay the higher price. But at least get the 6a, it’s cheaper than the normal Pixel 6, and gets updates for 10 more months than the Pixel 6. The Pixel 6 has less than 2 years of life time left, I don’t think it’s a good option nowadays. You can always check on this site: https://pixel-pricing.netlify.app/ (it’s in German, but you can either use the website translation in Firefox or on Google Translate)
Unraid is great for beginners.
