Sounds the solution is to allow users to not have to connect to the server in the first place and communicate across a local network.
Because they’ve probably killed more money from loss of sales through this stunt than they have from AWS fees.

1·2 years agoCUSTOM_LEMMY_SERVERS (optional) e.g. lemmy.world,lemmy.ml,sh.itjust.works - a comma separated list of suggested servers. The first will be used as default view for logged out users. You can specify only one if you want.

Seems pretty based to spread freedom of knowledge and history in spite of an oppressive, authoritarian regime.
