It proves it’s expensive. Too expensive to keep up. Especially going against one of the big 3.
Love me some old games.

Wait. People ask money for emulators? Haven’t they learned from bleem?
There’s loads of options. All depending on your budget
Abernic RG351V is currently a nice low price, for a 351 device. It can play up to psx flawlessly and handheld it could play up to DS, but it is not recommended for obvious reasons.
Other abernic devices might also work. I have the RG351MP myself, and am very happy with the build quality.
Take a look at this video for some recommendations released last year from first had experience from a guy who plays on a lot of these devices. His channel should be your go-to stop for any retro handheld devices.
Great! Hopefully this will preserve a lot of early ipod touch/iphone games. Finally a potentially decent emulator for the Doom RPG games.

And there’s also older models and types for sale. Check out Retro Game Corps on YouTube for honest reviews, costum firmware and information on these devices.
There’s also !sbcgaming@retrolemmy.com but like many niche communities it’s not very active. But I’m sure you can get answers for any question you post there.
Edit: there’s also options to buy a pre-built retropi or make your own using a 3d printer and a raspberrypi or similar, and costum pcbs. But I’m not sure if that’s what you’re looking for.
