There is any particular reason to deploy a new gitea instance instead of forgejo in 2025?

Same, all celestial names.
I have been run Docker container in both LXC and VM for a long time without issues or meaningful performance penalties. So I run important single docker containers on top of LXC and everything else in Dockge / Portainer VMs.
Eaton are probably the best out there. In my experience battery last between 3 and 4 years.
Any specific reason to move from a Mikrotik to OPNsense?
I think this is the best homelab router out there. If you are new to Mikrotik there is definitely a steep learning curve.
Openwrt is fairly good too, but I think documentation can be lacking and confusing for some edge applications. My other concerns with openwrt is performance since it is compatible with a wide variety of hardware is difficult to know how it will perform without testing it.
Can you share the link for that case?
In my experience Eaton UPSs are better than APC, CyberPower. Look at 5S1500LCD and the like.
I have a project on mind and I was planning on using nomnoml directly. https://kroki.io/ seems to a better way to interact with it. Thank you for sharing.
Just because it can be done it doesn’t mean that is a good idea to do it. It all depends on what is your are trying to do and your risk profile. For me Networking, storage and computing are all in different devices.
I have been running a selfhosted gitea instance for many years. However since Gitea Limited as a per profit organization have different objectives than Forgejo and Gitea Source Contributors I will rather not recommend it for selfhosting. Gitea Limited still great for businesses that need access to official support.
