Was using realvnc to vnc from remote, it was easy and cloud driven.

Fully swapped to tailscale and normal VNC sever now.

Performance is good and works great for the troubleshooting and small GUI stuff I need to do.

I love my recent oneplus phones. Yes from China, where all the recent good shit is coming out of.

The 2TB has a 500GB dir that gets cloned to the other 2 500GB drives and the cloud.

I could spare 500gb portion somewhere I guess but it’s just easy atm that the important 500GB gets copied around 1x a week.

2012 macbook pro in the cupboard as server. Put nixos on it and it flies now, only wish the Magsafe connection was a bit more stable.

Its got gigabit so should be good.

What sort of notifications is this aimed at?

Thinkcenter tiny, 4 external HDDs, a DAC, a raspi3b+, was like 25W I think.

I do this and just run Ubuntu on a Thinkcenter tiny.

Then this for input off the sofa.

I also put a few Braille dots on few buttons and glow in the dark paint on a few important dots to make it more usable which really works, Braille especially.

Then… A few bookmarks in the firefox, jellyfin, navidrome, Spotify, vlc/MPV from mounted NAS etc.

I don’t bother with any media/apps interface, I mostly see them as annoying and not needed with this KB/trackball setup.

Portable in the sense there is no lock in ie I can get up and leave with my data.

It’s a bit hard to do that with anytype.

If they stopped producing features or I wanted my data in another program, I’m stuck with a “Open source” format, but no where to go…

Unless that has changed, then I would take a look again.

AFAIK they have a proprietary data format so your files aren’t really that portable. Therefore I suggest obsidian and syncthing together.

Get MaterialFiles and turn on sftp server to share all your files via network.

Then same network whether its hotspot or home WiFi.

I have a 3b+ I want to try this with, it has double the ram and also Ethernet connection vs the 3a+. Do you see yours hit ram limit or you think the delay could be wifi related?

I ripped out the control board of the 2x bay toaster and then bought some sata extension cables (with power) for 2x HDDs. 3D printed a little drive bay type thing and then slapped the raspi on top with the usb controller. It works great!

Works for my usecase of basic NAS /SMB /SFTP and I can stream 1080p etc.

But would look to sata in the future also like you mention, couldn’t find a hat, but USB speeds are fine for me.

I just don’t think immich Devs will take that as an answer to do more work, if infact they already dev in a container. Or use dockers networking layer etc.
