Well look at that, it sure does. Too bad they don’t make those anymore.

I’m about to boot up a Cosmos server
What’s your question? I just did it today with YunoHost and it all worked as normal. Only problem is the version is nearly a year old (0.18.2) so I immediately abandoned it since I couldn’t use it with any third party frontends.
Minisforum HM90 for Proxmox with 2x2.5" HDDs
How did you connect HDDs to that thing?
I want to buy a device that already has the necessary hardware
Does that include disks? That’s going to limit your options considerably.
The one I recommended does not come with RAM or storage but those are both very easy to install and you can choose what size. It also comes with 2xSATA/power connectors. You could get 2x8TB 2.5" SSDs but I’d probably go with 4x2TB NVMe, that would give you 8TB RAW or 6TB with a parity disk.
Define pre-built.
How big is your media library?
Ollama will probably benefit from a more powerful processor like a Ryzen 7000/8000 series.
Can’t comment on NPUs and TOPs and all that. Still completely at a loss as to what is or is not marketing nonsense when it comes to AI. But the new Ryzen CPUs are supposed to have more of those, if you can wait.
Define “pre-built”?
What will you be using it for?
I’m still testing the CWWK X86 P5 but so far it seems like a near-perfect solution for personal use and the price can’t be best.
For the phone apps you’ll have to add them by their IP address.
I know that. I think the problem is, specifically as it pertains to Threads, is that “alternative frontend” can mean different things. Moshidon is an “alternative frontend” for Mastodon. The backend is all the same. So if I were to be advertising this project, I would be making sure to make that distinction somehow. Probably by including “private” somewhere in the title.
Regardless, does this allow you to generate a personal feed or is it just supposed to be a redirect like Nitter?
These kinds of websites are generally nicknamed alternative frontends
Yeah, the problem with that is that frontends are often interactive.
Mastodon could be considered an alternative frontend for Threads as well.
The problem is it’s being advertised as “an alternative to Threads”
My recommendation would be building a Jonsbo NAS. They’re relatively affordable. You probably also want a mobile CPU for better efficiency. I don’t recommend ARM as it will greatly limit the variety of software you can run on it. Erying and CWWK/Topton make ITX mobos with mobile CPUs. These are Chinese brands but I don’t really see anyone else making them.
The cheapest and easiest thing to do would be to just use an old standard desktop computer case that can hold a few HDDs.
You can look at some of their existing apps to see how this works.
Open source has a long history of commercial backing. Ever heard of a little project called NextCloud? Matrix? Nothing changes. It all works the same way, because it’s still AGPL license.
The company he works for, yes. Louis is in the video in OP
Will they still accept code from pull requests from outside their organisation?
That’s answered in the video. Nothing is changing. Yes, they still accept contributions.
Will any devs who spend a lot of time contributing get anything for their work? E.g. if I was providing time and code for a product then had to pay to use it that might seem a bit mean.
That’s the way it’s worked since day 1.
Why does it piss you off, exactly?
Yeah I dunno. I sent them $50 as soon as I came across this amazing software.
I think FUTO is trying to make FOSS sustainable by unmistakably asking for money. I’m not sure how much more effective that will be than just asking for donations externally…
You’re not thinking of FUPA?
I don’t understand the question.
I use GOS with Proton Cal and it gives me notifications. These should be pushed to your watch over BT.
Proton doesn’t work like other calendars because it’s encrypted. I guess they could make something similar to the “mail bridge” for this purpose? In fact, that may work already with something like Thunderbird and then you could install thunderbird on Android and link them together? Not really sure.
