I agree.
I agree.
I like Emby a lot. It’s my backup for Plex. I even give them money as development isn’t free (frequently)
Everything is clickbait, everything and everyone sucks, etc. To a large number of people here.
Does Jellyfin do remote streaming?
That makes zero sense.
I mean, it naturally has to be something that they eventually find a way to charge you something for. If it’s a for-profit business, and if they only sold lifetime subscriptions, they would eventually go out of business.
Yeah, absolutely. Same here, I find used laptops often make GREAT homelab systems, and ones with broken screens/mice/keyboards can be even better since you can get them CHEAP and still fully use them.
I have 4 doing various things including one acting as my “desktop” down in the homelab. But they’re between 4 and 14 years old and do a great job for what they’re used for.
Yeah, not here either. I’m now at a point where I keep wanting to replace my last host thats limited to 16GB. All the others - at least the ones I care about RAM on - all support 64GB or more now.
It would be really nice if I could have it sync to both. I’d like to sync it locally and have all the features available, but for convenience I would also like the option of a secure, reputable cloud service that costs a reasonable fee.
They seem good. However, using the app seems to be either/or (local or their service)
They’re also twice the price of Google, which is a bit tough to swallow.

wonder if they were not aware that it was possible or whether they were lying. I’m not sure which one is worse.
They knew it was possible,.although it obviously wasn’t intentional.
The only way this can happen is if they hold copies of the keys used to encrypt/protrect your traffic, and can give them to anyone at any time. Or if there’s no keys at all, and someone simply needs an ID to pull the right stream. Something like your password isn’t required to make the key useful (or they’re storing/using it in a reversible way). And anyone that compromises them can access whatever they want.
Unfortunately I dont know if anyone that does “cloud” camera stuff, including Reolink (and pretty much all of the other consumer camera makers) are any better here. I’m not sure that they’re as bad, but I bet most are. Clearly providers like Ring are.
That seems like a weirdly and artificially narrow definition of UPS.
Why is that no longer a UPS?
I’d like that, but also a really long-running UPS. multi-hour power outages are surprisingly common in my area.
Or TrippLite. Owners used it as a massive money laundering front for right-wing donations and bribes.
It’s relative, I guess.
Hey its me your friend Aaron how are you. Hey i was just wandering, what is your credit card details again? just wandering
Hey, Haiku is a “modern” OS too :)
Well that sucks.
